Ladybugs

With spring just around the corner and ladybugs coming out it’s very possible that you will get some in your home. Ladybugs come in through small cracks around windows and doorways. They are looking for a warm comfortable spot while it’s still a little cool. They are also attracted to white and light colors. The best way to keep them out is to repair damaged window and door trim and to caulk small cracks. The good news is that ladybugs don’t hurt your home. They don’t eat anything in it or even lay eggs inside your home. Once they find their way out they’re gone for good. Ladybugs don’t eat fabric, plants, paper or any other household items. They like to eat Aphids. Aphids are very small and very destructive pests that feed on plants.

If you see lady bugs in your home try not to disturb them as it will only cause them to stress out leaving yellow markings on your walls. The yellow stuff is not waste matter, but rather their blood. Ladybugs release a small amount of their blood which is yellow and smells when they sense danger. Some people have said that it does stain on light colored surfaces.
